Nipple discharge is when fluid leaks from one or both nipples and can result from normal conditions like pregnancy or breastfeeding, or from hormonal changes, infections, or, rarely, breast cancer.
If the discharge is from both sides, its usually not a serious problem, also if it only comes out during squeezing, its also less likely to be serious.
A nipple discharge can come in different colors;
-Green discharge is usually harmless and associated with cysts.
-Yellow discharge is usually physiological and maybe associated with infections
-White discharge is usually related to milk, and changes in your hormone levels.
-Bloody discharge is rather worrisome, and maybe related to a lump called a “papilloma” and in rare occasions breast cancer, especially if its from one side, and a single point in the nipple.
If you have any of these symptoms please get checked. Visit a breast specialist, and book a mammogram and ultrasound of the breast.
